Bias Tape

What is Bias Tape?

Bias tape, also known as bias binding tape, is a narrow strip of fabric cut on the bias. It is commonly used for binding seams, edges, or for decorative purposes in sewing projects. Bias tape is created by folding and pressing the strip of fabric inwards, encasing the raw edges. It can be either single-fold or double-fold, depending on the desired application. Single-fold bias tape is folded in half lengthwise, while double-fold bias tape is folded inwards on both edges, creating a narrower finished width. Bias tape can be purchased pre-made or can be custom-made from fabric matching or contrasting the project. It is often used to add a decorative finish to garments, quilts, or other fabric items.
