Barré

What is Barré?

Barré is a pattern in a knitted textile in which the pattern does not run in warp direction (i.e. lenghtwise) but in the weft direction (i.e. crosswise), resulting in horizontal stripes. Usually this effect is undesireable but can also be used as a style element. This effect can be created by both weaving or printing.
