What is Alloy?

An alloy refers to a mixture or combination of two or more chemical elements of which at least one is a metal. Alloys retain the properties of the metal in the final material (e.g. luster and conductivity). However, alloys can have properties that are different from the properties of pure metals (e.g. hardness). Examples of alloys are white gold, sterling silver, brass and bronze.
